Andrew & Kirsten with Rachel McAlpine ‘Still Not Dead’

14/12/2025 @ 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
$40.00

A celebration of age and ageing in song & spoken word & anything else that may occur in the heat of the moment. Rachel is am accomplished poet, playwright & podcaster whose book ‘How To Be Old’ has inspired us to ask her to join us in this outing. Yes of course we will be playing ‘Getting Old & Getting Tired’. Also Willie nelson’s ‘Still Not Dead’ which has inspired the title of the show. Love these AFTERNOON gigs! Tix on Eventfinder at some stage.

After recovering from a shocking epiphany (OMG I’m getting old!), popular poet Rachel McAlpine started unpicking the mysteries of old age. Results: a best-seller book of poems, How To Be Old. A sell-out play, The Secret Lives of Extremely Old People. A podcast, Learning How To Be Old. And it seems at 85 she’s still not done and still not dead. She reads selections.

On the cusp of receiving the mythical Gold Card, satirical songwriter/guitarist Andrew London and partner Kirsten assemble a selection of age-related (or -adjacent) songs from both original and borrowed repertoires, to compliment Ms McAlpine’s meanderings. ‘When I’m 64’ is almost too obvious to include but… yes all right then.

Could ace harmonica virtuoso Coral Trimmer make a surprise appearance? We think so. You can expect more afternoon events from these people from now on. The bar will be open.

Here’s a radio interview we just did about this show!
